Prof Anne Tropper and Dr Vasilis Apostolopoulos lead the VECSEL group in the University of Southampton that researches a type of optically pumped semiconductor laser that is called the Vertical External Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VECSEL).
We are working with our Postdoctoral researcher Jonathan Woods to investigate nonlinear interactions between VECSELs and nonlinear waveguide resonators.
Here a tantalum pentoxide waveguide can be seen as it is coupling to a 40 micron micro-ring.
